How to Download and Read Your eBook

Your eBook is delivered as an EPUB file. EPUB works with any EPUB reader app and can also be read on Kindle.

The easiest way to read on a Kindle or in the Kindle app is Amazon's free “Send to Kindle” service — it accepts both EPUB and PDF files and automatically converts them so they work on any Kindle. (Note: Amazon no longer supports the old MOBI/PRC format.)

After you purchase, you'll receive an email with a link to download your book. Download it to your device and note where it was saved, then follow the steps below for your device.

Reading an EPUB in an eBook reader app

Windows PC

  1. After purchasing the eBook, you'll receive an email with a link to download the book.
  2. Download the EPUB to your computer and note where it was saved.
  3. Open it with a free EPUB reader such as Thorium Reader, Calibre, or Adobe Digital Editions.

Android (phone or tablet)

  1. After purchasing the eBook, you'll receive an email with a link to download the book.
  2. Download the EPUB to your device and note where it was saved.
  3. Open it with an EPUB reading app such as Google Play Books, Moon+ Reader, or another EPUB app.

iPhone / iPad

  1. After purchasing the eBook, you'll receive an email with a link to download the book.
  2. Download the EPUB to your device (from the email link, Safari, or the Files app).
  3. Tap the file, choose Share, then tap Books (Apple Books) — or open the file and select Copy to Books.
  4. The book opens in Apple Books and stays in your library, syncing across your Apple devices via iCloud. (No iTunes or cable required.)

Reading on a Kindle or in the Kindle app

Amazon's Send to Kindle service is the recommended method for both EPUB and PDF files. Choose whichever option is easiest for you:

Option 1 — Send to Kindle for Web (any device)

  1. After purchasing the eBook, you'll receive an email with a link to download the book. Download the file to your device.
  2. Go to amazon.com/sendtokindle and sign in with your Amazon account.
  3. Drag and drop your EPUB or PDF (200 MB or smaller) into the upload area.
  4. Choose the Kindle device or app to deliver to, then send. The book appears in your Kindle Library, usually within a minute or two.

Option 2 — Send to Kindle by email

  1. After purchasing the eBook, you'll receive an email with a link to download the book. Download the file to your device.
  2. Find your personal Send to Kindle email address in your Amazon account under Manage Your Content and Devices → Preferences → Personal Document Settings.
  3. From one of your approved email addresses, email the EPUB or PDF as an attachment to that address (up to 50 MB total per email).
  4. The book is added to your Kindle Library automatically.

Note: As of April 2025, Amazon requires the full sending email address to be on your approved list (e.g. yourname@email.com), not just a domain.

Option 3 — Kindle app (iPhone, iPad, or Android)

  1. After purchasing the eBook, you'll receive an email with a link to download the book.
  2. Make sure the free Kindle app is installed.
  3. Download the EPUB or PDF to your device.
  4. Open the file, tap Share, and choose Kindle — or use the + / Import option inside the Kindle app to add the file.
  5. The book appears in your Library.

Option 4 — Kindle device by USB cable

  1. After purchasing the eBook, you'll receive an email with a link to download the book. Download the file to your computer.
  2. Connect your Kindle to your computer with a USB cable.
  3. For PDF files: copy the file into the Kindle's documents folder, then safely eject.
  4. For EPUB files: use Send to Kindle (Options 1–3 above) instead, so Amazon converts the file to a format your Kindle can open.
